![]() ![]() :)Įdit, one plugin is the ISY994, that's the really advanced Insteon controller I already own which has Z-Wave built in also. The demo looks great, I'm not a programmer though, is it hard to script with this? Does Home Assistant see things from the Wink Hub as well? Like I mean if I press ON on a Lutron Pico remote, does Home Assistant see I pushed that button, or if I launch a shortcut on Wink can I have Home Assistant see that I pressed the "Movie Time" shortcut on the Wink Hub and then have it run its own actions? Downloading it right now for my Raspberry Pi so will try it out anyway. HomeSeer has a really advanced GUI editor to make really complex interfaces for tablets, but every thing I find online just looks like someone stuck a tablet to the wall and looks so cheesy! So when I saw the Relay I was in love with it lol. Trust me that's been the issue for me since the start. Does all kinds of automations around the door sensors and what not. He's been really really happy with it so far. Pretty sure a buddy of mine uses the Envisalink alarm system with HA, what really turned him onto it. Just need to figure out a mounting solution that doesn't look amateur hour. What I really want to do eventually is mount a tablet with the HA interface on it. It looks cool is honestly why I got it, between HA automation and Amazon Echo voice control I don't use it all that often. Really trying to keep the hub count down, plus I can grab another Hub if Wink ever dies one day. I do have a Wink Relay, well two but only one installed so far, but I've made sure to make sure the devices are standard or work with Wink for the most part, so the Relay was logical. If you check out my examples you can see all the different devices I use and how they all automate together, like the way things should be honestly. In short what you can do with Home Assistant is take all of these disparate systems and tie them all together in a single interface and single automation center. Check out their Demo, Logging and History in the Menu. Great thing about HA is you can write components if you really want a device to work. You might be able to dig into the forums and see if using the PLM is possible. I don't have Insteon devices, but would probably say its safe to assume the Hub is required. Yes Home Assistant would do all of that, it does support the Insteon Hub. This Home Assistant is looking VERY interesting to me though! Are you saying that I can connect my Lutron Caseta lights to the Wink Hub like I do right now, and then Home Assistant can actually control them as well and do more complex scenes? Like if I press a button on a Z-Wave keypad, Home Assistant can turn on the Caseta lights via the Wink Hub, turn on the Philips Hue, and so on? Looks like only limitation I can see is Insteon requires their Hub, vs using a PLM but not the end of the world, the Hub's are pretty inexpensive. The Lutron Hub was just because it's needed to connect to HomeSeer. So bought a bunch of Caseta switches and then found out it's one or the other, Wink or the Lutron Hub. So I thought maybe Lutron would do the same with Wink. My Hue lights work perfect with it as Wink just uses the Philips Hue bridge to control them just like HomeSeer. I was hoping I could use my Wink Hub that I already own (bought it to play with a year ago since only $49) and connect Z-Wave lights to IT as well as HomeSeer but it doesn't seem like it works that well like that. Then I saw the Wink Relay was only $99 and I've wanted a touchscreen controller forever but it doesn't support Insteon, no integration with HomeSeer, and so I was trying to see how to make it work. I have the USB Z-Wave Interface as well as Insteon so all work fine. So I started messing with HomeSeer a couple weeks ago and really love it, it's super flexible and powerful and runs all my devices with ease. It also doesn't support 3rd party anything really, so controlling the Hue lights has to be done with variables, like "if I change this variable to 1, run HTTP POST command to the Hue bridge" and so on. It's a great rock solid device, but I find it very limited with basic things, like simple logs such as "When did the front door open last" require logging in with the Java console and exporting the log to Excel. Here's the background, I started with Insteon and Z-Wave with the ISY994 as I was told it's the best for Insteon. I've never heard of Home Assistant but just checking it out now, shows it supports Envisalink which is my alarm connector for the DSC which is pretty cool!
